There’s a very simple way to convert your m4a into mp3 files. This comes in handy when you would like to use the audio content recorded from Voice Notes on the iPhone.
1. Import your m4a file into iTunes just as you would any song. (File>Add File to Library)
2. Highlight the m4a file and right click, choose ‘create mp3 version‘. That’s it your done. If you don’t get the option ‘Create mp3 Version’ see below.
**If ‘Create mp3 Version’ is not listed as an option when you right click go to: Edit>Preferences>General>Import Settings (listed under when you insert a CD)>mp3 encoder>OK>OK.
